Stree 2 Review: This Shraddha-Rajkummar Starrer Delivers What We Expected; A Super Entertaining Horror-Comedy

Stree 2 Review: Horror-Comedy has been explored in Bollywood a lot. But, then there was a phase when filmmakers were not experimenting with the genre. In 2018, Maddock Films and filmmaker Amar Kaushik came up with Stree, a horror-comedy, which surely gave the genre a boost and it also set the bar high for the horror-comedy movies. Stree ended on a note that there will be a sequel and from the past six years we all have been waiting for Stree 2. So, was the wait worth it? Find out in our review below...

The sequel starts from where the first part ended. Stree wanted respect and now on every wall is written 'O Stree Raksha Karna'. But, as Stree goes away from Chanderi, enters Sarkata who kidnaps girls. Now, Vicky (Rajkummar Rao), Janna (Abhishek Banerjee), Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana), and Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi) once again get involved with Sarkata and the mystery girl (Shraddha Kapoor) is also back in Chanderi. How these people save the women of Chanderi from Sarkate Ka Aatank, forms the rest of the story...

Sometimes filmmakers just make a sequel for the sake of it because it guarantees good moolah at the box office. But, clearly that's not the case with Stree 2. We can see that a lot of work has gone into the script, screenplay, and dialogues. Niren Bhatt's script connects Stree 2 and Stree very well and you need to concentrate this time a bit more to understand the storyline.

The biggest strength of Stree was the one liners that made us laugh out loud, and that's what is perfectly maintained in Stree 2 as well. Amar Kaushik's narration is also up to the mark as the movie keeps us engaged. But yes, in the second half, Stree 2 dips a bit, only to once again pick up with an amazing-hilarious cameo. After that the movie keeps us hooked throughout. The climax has the perfect amount of thrills and comedy, and a lot of surprises.

Stree 2 Actors' Performances

Rajkummar Rao as Vicky impresses us a lot once again. He gets into the skin of the character effortlessly showcasing his fantastic comic timing. Shraddha Kapoor doesn't have much to do in the first half, but she gets a good scope to perform in the second half and in the climax. She has performed her part very well and looks gorgeous in the songs.

Pankaj Tripathi as usual is just wonderful in the film, and Aparshakti Khurana also gets ample scope to showcase his acting talent. The amazing-hilarious cameo that we spoke about above is none other than Akshay Kumar. He once again proves why we love him in comedy roles. Tamannaah looks super hot as Shama and her chemistry with Pankaj Tripathi is something you need to look forward to. Even Varun Dhawan's cameo will grab your attention.

While all the actors have done a wonderful job, the show stealer is Abhishek Banerjee as Jana. He has been given the best role, and Banerjee has performed it excellently. Each and every scene featuring Banerjee will make you laugh out loud.

The songs in the film are impressive. Aaj ki Raat and Aayi Nai are already chartbusters and even the romantic tracks leave a mark.

Overall, Stree 2 is a super entertaining horror-comedy filled with amazing performances and hilarious one liners. It gives us what we expected and the team has successfully recreated the magic on the big screens!
