Bawaal First Review: Varun Dhawan & Janhvi Kapoor’s Romantic Drama FAILS To Impress The Audience

After giving massive hits like Dangal, Chhichhore etc, Nites Tiwari is making the headlines these days for his new directorial Bawaal. Starring Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan in the lead, Bawaal is a romantic drama and is among the most anticipated releases of the year.
After a grand trailer release in Dubai and how Varun and Janhvi's sizzling chemistry has been grabbing eyeballs, the audience has been pinning high hopes for Bawaal. And if you are planning to watch the movie this week, here's a quick first review of this romance drama.
To note, a fan screening took place recently and looks like Bawaal has failed to impress the audience. Renowned film critic took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and shared a review of Bawaal. Without taking the film's name, he wrote, "Theatrical Flop avoided it seems". It didn't long for the netizens to guess that this tweet was about Bawaal. However, the tweet was later deleted.

In fact, the social media was abuzz with tweets expressing the fans' disappointment towards Bawaal. A Twitter user tweeted, "#Bawaal - BEING VARUN FAN I wana see #Atlee and #citadel next @Varun_dvn please now choose larger than life movies.... Ho gaya content or national director k sath kam karka. #VarunDhawan looks ok.#JanhviKapoor looks decent. #nitishtiwari sir ummed thi Apsa. Move on #Varunfans. #secondhalf of the movie completely lacks and world war situations looks completely in organic. #Bawaal will have been fall miserable in theatre. Thanks for #OTT route".
Meanwhile, the trailer also received a mixed response from the audience. To note, Bawaal marks Varun and Janhvi Kapoor's first collaboration.
Talking about working with Janhvi Kapoor, Varun told Galatta Plus that he didn't speak to Janhvi for the first month of the shoot. Explaining the decision, "Because I felt we'll become friends like this (snaps). I said let me not, and let me be a little aloof, a little cold. I'll talk to everyone else but her, and purposely. I felt it might evoke something in her and something in me when we were doing scenes of that nature. And then eventually, I told her after 20 days. Then she realized it, otherwise, she took it personally. See, I did it selfishly but I think it helped both of us at that time. Actually, in the film, how gradually the couple got to know each other, we also got to know each other gradually, which was interesting".
