Main Actor Nahin Hoon Trailer, Cast, Release Date: All You Need To Know About Filmmaker Aditya Kripalani Movie

Filmmaker Aditya Kripalani has unveiled the trailer for his highly anticipated film, "Main Actor Nahin Hoon", starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satarupa. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release across India on May 8, 2026.

Written, directed, and produced by Aditya Kripalani (FIPRESCI & NETPAC award winner), the film is co-produced by Sweta Chhabria Kripalani (Mumba Devi Motion Pictures) and Faizuddin Siddiqui (Side Hero Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.), with Platoon One Films joining as the distribution partner.

Filmmaker Aditya Kripalani says:- We are really eager to share this film as a community in cinemas. It's a film that is for everyone irrespective of belief systems. It's also finally a film about everyday life and feels like a story of people that could've been us.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui says:- Our film breaks barriers between people and asks all to embrace the 'other' no matter what we believe. In this case it's a banker and an artist. The film explore a belief that labels divide us and humanity unities us. That's the core of this film.

The film follows Mouni (Chitrangada Satarupa) a frustrated but puritanical actor in Mumbai who meets Adnan Baig (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) a depressed, recently retired banker in Frankfurt over an online film audition and spends the rest of the day teaching him acting over video calls. As they walk around Mumbai & Frankfurt respectively, the acting class forces them both to be emotionally naked and vulnerable and confront things about themselves that they've both swept under the rug for years.

'Main Actor Nahin Hoon' marks a significant milestone as the first Indian film to be shot LIVE across 2 countries over 28 days. Each day, "Action" and "Cut" were called simultaneously, with both lead actors performing in real time on video calls while being filmed by two separate units in India and Germany. The crew battled contrasting weather conditions and a 4.5-hour time difference, adding to the film's unique execution.

The film has enjoyed a successful international festival run, earning widespread acclaim. Nawazuddin Siddiqui received the Best Actor award at the 25th New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), Chitrangada Satarupa won Best Actor (Female), and Aditya Kripalani was awarded Best Director (Jury) at the DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF). The film will also have a theatrical release in Germany right after the India release.
