'Blue Period' Manga Gets Live-Action Adaptation, Final Trailer, Release TOMORROW

The manga written and illustrated by Tsubasa Yamaguchi, 'Blue Period' is currently getting a film adaptation. The Warner Bros. Japan recently put out the final trailer for the film, which will be releasing very soon in Japanese theatres.

For those that have been a big fan of the original manga or anime, or those that are simply interested in what this new live action film may be about, here are a couple of details you should know regarding the upcoming 'Blue Period' live action film.

Plot Details Of The Upcoming Live Action Japanese Film 'Blue Period'

The live action film will follow the male protagonist, Yatora Yaguchi. At a first glance, Yatora's life seems almost perfect. He has good grades, a consistent group of friends, is decently popular outside of that group, and doesn't have to put much effort to have any of those things. With the direction that Yatora's life is going, it seems that he's destined for a very comfortable life at the very least. Unfortunately for our protagonist, this success is something he finds no fulfillment in. He simply does what's required of him and what will bring him the most success, not out of drive or desire, but purely because there's nothing else he can think of doing.

That is, until he wakes up one day and sees the morning of his home city, Shibuya, covered in a blue light that inspires him. He decides to put this inspiration to work for one of his drawings for art class, which causes him to look even deeper into art as a potential career. Eventually, he decides he wants to attend the Tokyo University of the Arts, a university with a very low acceptance rate. Not only will Yatora Yaguchi have to put in a lot of hard work for the first time in his life, he will also have to explore a field that he has no experience in.

It's a story that asks whether passion and motivation will trump experience and time, or will the protagonist's efforts have been for naught.

Cast And Crew Behind The Film 'Blue Period'

The film will be directed by Kentaro Hagiwara, who has previously worked on other live action films too like the live-action version of 'Tokyo Ghoul'. The script for the movie will be written by the scriptwriter who also worked on the 'Blue Period' anime, Reiko Yoshida. The music will be composed by artist Yaffle.

The cast list for the live-action film includes Gordon Maeda, Fumiya Takahashi, Rihito Itagaki, Hiyori Sakurada, Hiroko Yakushimaru, Noriko Eguchi, Hikari Ishida, and more.

When And Where Can I Watch The Live-Action Film 'Blue Period'

The film will be available in Japanese theatres from tomorrow, August 9th, 2024 onwards. While there is no international theatrical release date, the film may become available to fans through OTT platforms once the initial theatrical release period is over.
