Embracing Indian Culture Was Difficult Says Dev Patel
Dev Patel says it was difficult for him to embrace Indian Culture because of the fear of getting bullied in school.
Hollywood actor of Indian origin, Dev Patel shares the difficulty he faced embracing the cultural heritage of India while growing up in London. The actor says he as a child never wanted to embrace Indian culture for the fear of getting bullied in school.
"I didn't fully embrace my culture when I was at school because I wanted to fit in and not get bullied" Said Dev Patel in a statement.

"It was only when I went to India with Slumdog that I started to appreciate the country. I was educated out of all those preconceived stereotypes about my culture," the Slumdog Millionaire actor quipped.
Patel, who got nominations for major awards this year like Golden Globe, Bafta for his role as Saroo Brierley in the movie Lion, also vents his frustration for the lack of diverse roles in Hollywood.
"You can only go as far as the scripts that are landing on your agent's desk. So I am trying to be the person who isn't waiting for the phone to ring but can generate their own material."Dev Patel stated.
"It's hard when there is nothing good out there that is not your usual goofy best friend/funny sidekick/techie roles." Dev Patel added further.
