Kamal Hassan inaugurating IFFK

Superstar Kamal Haasan will inaugurate the 12th International Film Festival of Kerala to be held from 7th to 14th, December at Thiruvanathapuram. Hana Makhmalbaf"s Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame has been chosen as the opening film for this year"s event.

The films chosen for the Malayalam Cinema section include director Shaji N. Karun"s AKG, Ranjith"s Kaiyoppu, Roshen Andrews" Notebook, Shyam Prasad"s Ore Kadal, Lenin Rajendran"s Rahtrimazha, Avira Rebecca"s Thakarachenda, Babu Thiruvilla"s Thaniye and Murali Nair"s Unni.

The festival will also feature a special package of Caribbean films called 'Colonial Legacies' which include seven feature films and two Beta documentaries. A special package of 13 films of veteran Spanish director Pedro Almodovar will also be screened at the festival.

Another major attraction of the festival is the package of ten Balkan films. Adoor Gopalakrishnan"s Dance of the Enchantress will be screened along with eleven other documentaries at the IFFK.
