Vanitha Film Awards 2017, one of the most celebrated film awards of the Malayalam movie industry, have been announced. Mohanlal and Manju Warrier bagged the trophies for Best Actors in the awards, which have been decided through gallop polls.

The gallop poll was conducted among the readers of Vanitha, Malayalam Manorama daily, Manorama Online users, and public. The awards will be distributed at the grand event, which will be held on the Bristo Ground of Wellington Island, Kochi on February 12.

Best Movie: Maheshinte Prathikaaram

Maheshinte Prathikaaram, the Fahadh Faasil starring family entertainer directed by Dileesh Pothan bagged the award for the Best Movie. The movie was produced by director-producer Aashiq Abu for the banner OPM Dream Mill Cinemas.

Popular Movie: Pulimurugan

Pulimurugan, the Mohanlal starring Vysakh movie which emerged as the highest ever grosser of Mollywood, won the award for the Popular Movie of 2016. The movie is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam for Mulakupadam Films.

Best Actor: Mohanlal

Mohanlal, the complete actor won the Best Actor trophy for his performances as Jayaraman in the Priyadarshan movie Oppam and Murugan in Vysakh directed action thriller Pulimurugan.

Best Actress: Manju Warrier

Manju Warrier, the star actress won the award for Best Actress, for her performance as volley ball coach Vandhana in Deepu Karunakaran's Karinkunnam 6s.

Best Director: Rajeev Ravi

Rajeev Ravi, the National award-winning cinematographer turned director won the award for Best Director, for his action thriller film Kammatipaadam.

Popular Actor: Nivin Pauly

Nivin Pauly, the young crowd-puller won the award for Popular Actor of 2016, for his performances as titular character Biju in Abrid Shine's Action Hero Biju and Jerry in Vineeth Sreenivasan's Jacobinte Swargarajyam.

Popular Actress: Anusree

Anusree, the super-talented actress won the trophy for the Popular Actress of 2016, for her performances in Maheshinte Prathikaaram, Oppam, and Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho.

Lifetime Achievement Award: K G George
