Hema Committee Report: Actor Jayasurya Calls S*xual Harassment Allegations 'False'; Issues Official Statement

Jayasurya On S*xual Harassment Allegations: In the wake of the Hema Committee Report, several male actors, producers from the Malayalam film industry have come under the radar for s*xually and verbally harassing several female actress, junior artists, producers among others. Recently, popular Mollywood actor Jayasurya was booked under non-bailable charges over a complaint filed by an actress named Sonia Malhar. She has allegedly accused Jayasurya for sexually attacking her during the shoot of a Malayalam film. Now, the Vellam actor has finally responded to the allegations. For those unversed, actress Minu Muneer had first accused Jayasurya along with few others of both verbal and physical abuse during a movie shoot in 2013.
Jayasurya Issues Official Statement On S*xual Harassment Allegations
Mollywood actor Jayasurya finally broke his silence against the s*xual harassment charges against him amid the Hema Committee Report row. On Sunday early morning (September 1), the actor took to his Instagram and issued an official statement on the same. Calling the allegations "false", Jayasurya has claimed that his "legal team will be looking after the rest of the proceedings regarding this case."
"I have decided to move forward with this legally. My legal team will be looking after the rest of the proceedings regarding this case. False allegations are easy to make for anyone who lacks a conscience. I only hope one realises that facing a false accusation of harassment is just as painful as the harassment itself," his statement read.
"A lie always travels faster than the truth but I believe truth will prevail. All the legal proceedings to prove my innocence will continue. I have complete faith in our judicial system. Thank you to those who contributed to making this birthday the most painful one," the actor further added.
Ever since the Hema Committee Report was released, Several women from the Malayalam film industry, including actresses, have been coming forward and speaking up about their horrid experiences - s*xual harassments, abuses, and discriminations against them - in the Mollywood film industry.
