Bandaa Singh Chaudhary Review: Arshad Warsi & Meher Give Excellent Performance In This Well-Intentioned Film

Bandaa Singh Chaudhary Review: While everyone is keen to watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again on Diwali, this week, there's a small film hitting the big screens titled Bandaa Singh Chaudhary. The movie stars Arshad Warsi and Meher Vij in the lead roles, and it is directed by Abhishek Saxena, and produced by Arbaaz Khan. So, is this pre-Diwali release worth a watch? Find out in our review below...
Bandaa Singh Chaudhary (Arshad Warsi) stays in a village in Punjab. He falls in love with Lalli (Meher Vij) and get married. They are living a happy life in the village with their daughter, but in 1980, militants take over Punjab, and they want all the Hindus to leave the state. However, Bandaa, who has stayed in the village his whole life, decides to fight against the militants. Will he be successful in it?
The movie is written by Abhishek Saxena and Shaheen Iqbal, and the former has directed it. The first half of the film is engaging and keeps us hooked. The romantic track between Bandaa Lalli is cute, and even the emotional scenes touch the right chords of our hearts. But, in the second half, the movie goes a bit haywire.
Post-interval, the movie has some good strong scenes, but even with a runtime of around 114 minutes it looks stretched. The pace in the second half, which should have been a bit fast, becomes slow. The scenes where all the villagers start traning for the fight has been shot very well, and the scene featuring the female actresses taking the lead surely grabs our attention. But, of course, the second half could have been much better.
Bandaa Singh Chaudhary Actors' Performances
It is so good to see Arshad Warsi in a serious role, and he has done a fantastic job. The actor as Bandaa Singh Chaudhary gets to romance, do comedy, action, and mouth out some of the heroic patriotic dialogues, and he has done everything wonderfully. While Arshad is very good, Meher Vij steals the show with her amazing performance. We have majorly seen Meher just playing the role of a mother, but here we see her doing romance, dance to songs, action, and she just proves that she is one of the most talented actors we have in the industry who is just being wasted in those motherly roles. With Bandaa Singh Chaudhary, she proves that she can be the female lead in a movie.
Supporting actors like Kiara Khanna (child artist), Shataf Figar, Shilpi Marwaha, Jeeveshu Ahluwalia, and Alisha Chopra leave a mark with their respective performance.
Bandaa Singh Chaudhary Review Final Verdict
Overall, Bandaa Singh Chaudhary has a good storyline, and if the second half would have been stronger, then it would have been a great film. However, it is not a bad film, and you can watch it once especially for the excellent performance of Warsi and Vij.
