Is Deva A South Remake: Shahid Kapoor's latest action-thriller drama 'Deva', now playing in cinemas, has been the center of attention lately. From trailer, song, to promotional campaigns, the film has generated a strong pre-release buzz which is working in favour for the release. Helmed by Rosshan Andrrews, which his directorial debut in Bollywood, the new Hindi-language action flick is bankrolled by Zee Studios and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Ever since the trailer dropped, it sparked speculations about being a remake of a south film. However, the makers always made their stand clear that it was not a remake. But now, after the release, several reports and fan pages are claiming that Deva is indeed a remake but with a clever twist.

Deva Full Cast, Story

Shahid Kapoor has returned to big screens after almost a year with Deva. The cop avatar has already sent shockwaves of excitement among his fans. In this new massy actioner, Shahid is seen romancing Pooja Hegde. The film also features Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait in important roles.

The story of Deva revolves around the rebellious cop Dev Ambre who seeks revenge for the murder of his friend, an honest cop Rohan (played by Pavail).

Is Shahid Kapoor's Deva A South Movie Remake?

According to various twitter pages and reports, Shahid Kapoor starrer Deva is a Hindi remake of Prithviraj Sukumaran's 2013 film 'Mumbai Police'. Interestingly, the Malayalam-language neo-noir psychological thriller was also directed by Rosshan Andrrews. However, the makers made some slight changes in the Hindi adaptation.

Previously, Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh, Jersey were also Hindi remakes of south films.
