Jailer 2 OTT Rights: Rajinikanth-Nelson Film Reportedly Secures Record Digital Deal Ahead Of Release

Jailer 2 OTT Rights: The upcoming Tamil film Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth in the lead, is already drawing attention within the trade circuit months before its theatrical release. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and backed by Sun Pictures, the sequel to the 2023 hit Jailer is currently in the final stages of production.

Jailer 2 OTT Rights Record Deal Reportedly

According to a report originally published by Maalaimalar and cited by DT Next, the film's digital streaming rights have reportedly been sold for a significant sum. If industry buzz is to be believed, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the OTT rights for Jailer 2 for around ₹160 crore. The platform had earlier backed the first Jailer as well. However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers regarding this figure or the deal.

If the reported amount holds true, it could mark one of the highest OTT deals for a Tamil film so far. According to the same report, trade discussions have compared the figure with previous big-ticket acquisitions, including Ponniyin Selvan (around ₹125 crore), Leo (around ₹120 crore) and Coolie (around ₹120 crore).

Jailer 2 Cast, Cameos And Technical Team Details

Jailer 2 continues the story of "Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian, with Rajinikanth reprising his role. The sequel also sees the return of several actors from the first installment, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa. Actors Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are also set to reprise their cameo roles.

The sequel introduces new faces such as S. J. Suryah, Jatin Sarna, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Anna Rajan, among others. Additionally, Vijay Sethupathi has confirmed his involvement in a cameo appearance, stating in an earlier interview that he chose to be part of the project out of admiration for Rajinikanth and the opportunity to work alongside him.

Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who also worked on the first installment. The technical team includes cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editor R. Nirmal.

The film was officially announced with a teaser released during Pongal 2025, which was screened in theatres across multiple states before being made available online. Since then, Jailer 2 has remained a closely followed project, especially given the commercial performance of its predecessor.

While reports surrounding its OTT deal continue to circulate, there has been no official confirmation from the makers so far, and the figures remain part of industry speculation.
