Itti Si Khushi Episode: Bhumika Gurung On Playing Sara Sethi In Sony SAB’s Show: "What Instantly...."
Mumbai, 20th April 2026: In Sony SAB's Itti Si Khushi as Virat (Rajat Verma) and Anvita's (Sumbul Touqeer Khan) bond grows stronger, the entry of Sara Sethi, played by Bhumika Gurung, has begun to stir things up. Confident and charming, Sara comes in with a clear intention to win Virat over, bringing a new layer of tension to their equation. Her presence is gradually impacting their relationship, testing emotions and shifting the dynamic between them.

In a candid chat, Bhumika Gurung opens up about stepping into Sara's layered psyche, portraying a character driven by intent and subtle manipulation. She also shares what makes this grey-shaded role unique and her experience of bringing a stronger, more nuanced negative character to life on screen.
1. When you were first approached for Itti Si Khushi, what about the show or the role instantly caught your attention?
When I was approached for the role what instantly drew me to Sara was her "boss lady" energy. It's something I feel every girl has within her, but it doesn't always come to the surface. Sara owns that power unapologetically. The aura she carries of being strong, confident, and a little intimidating was very exciting for me as an actor to explore.
2. What makes Sara different from the characters you've portrayed before?
What sets Sara apart is that she isn't driven purely by love or the need to break relationships. Her actions come from a place of past hurt and a sense of being undervalued. She gave her all to a relationship but didn't receive the love and respect she deserved. Now, she's someone who has come back stronger, determined to reclaim what she believes is rightfully hers. That emotional layering makes her very different from anything I've done before.
3. Were there any references or inspirations you drew from while portraying Sara?
There weren't any specific references, but the idea was to make Sara feel like a modern-day woman, someone who is powerful, classy, and very aware of her presence. We wanted her to come across as someone who doesn't need to say much to make an impact.
4. Was there any particular scene or moment that challenged you the most while portraying Sara?
I wouldn't say it was challenging in a difficult way, but it's definitely been exciting. Characters like Sara give you a lot of scope to perform and experiment. There are multiple layers to her personality, and that makes every scene interesting because you're constantly exploring new shades.
5. How do you think Sara is shaping or influencing the overall storyline of the show?
At the moment, Sara is a major catalyst for the drama in the story. Her presence is what's creating tension and shifting dynamics between the characters. What's interesting is that her actions are not random-she's very clear about her intent. She's here for a reason, and that will continue to drive the narrative forward, especially in her equation with Virat.
6. As an actor, do you enjoy playing grey characters more than straightforward roles? Why?
At this stage in my career, I genuinely enjoy playing grey or negative characters more. Positive roles can sometimes have a limited graph, whereas grey characters give you a lot more variety and depth. I enjoy exploring different emotions and breaking away from repetitive patterns. I see myself as a versatile actor, and roles like Sara allow me to push my boundaries and try something new.
7. How has your experience been shooting with Rajat and Sumbul so far?
It's been a really fun and comfortable experience. We all get along very well on set, and there's a great energy among us. Everyone brings their own vibe, and that makes the atmosphere very lively. Working with Rajat and Sumbul has been especially enjoyable, they've been extremely warm and welcoming.
8. What can viewers look forward to in Sara's journey in the upcoming episodes?
There's a lot of drama, planning, and unexpected twists coming up. Sara is someone who doesn't act impulsively, she thinks, plans, and then makes her moves. So viewers can expect a lot of interesting developments as her plans unfold and the relationships around her continue to evolve.
