6 Upcoming Malayalam Movies Eyeing The Rs 100 Crore Club In 2024

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's 'Malaikottai Vaaliban' is one of the most-anticipated films of 2024. The period action film is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, will be released in theatres on January 25, 2024. Made with a budget of 100 crores, the post production of the film will be done in UK. Apart from Mohanlal, Malaikottai Vaaliban also stars Harish Peradi and Manikandan Achari in key roles. It has been reported that the film is expected to break into the 100 crore club in just three days.

Directed by Blessy, Aadujeevitham is an adaptation of a 2008 Malayalam novel of the same name authored by Benyamin. It is a  real story of a man from Kerala who spent around two years in exile on a goat farm in an unknown desert in Saudi Arabia. Benyamin narrated his life as a goatherd in the novel and it became one of the best-seller novels in the history of Malayalam literature. The lead roles in the movie played by actors Prithviraj Sukumaran and Amala Paul. As per the latest reports the film will be released in theaters on April 10, 2024.

This movie is expected to earn more at the box office than Megastar Mammootty's "Beeshmaparvam," according to sources. Ever since the movie's announcement, people are said to have been highly excited about the plot and casting choices. Bramayugam’ is a horror-thriller film and will present a rooted story set in the dark ages of Kerala. Directed by Rahul Sadasivan 'Bramayugam’ apart from Mammootty also stars Arjun Ashokan, Sidharth Bharathan and Amalda Liz in pivotal roles, with Christo Xavier providing the film’s soundtrack.

Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer, helmed by director Rojin Thomas, has become a hot topic since its announcement. Starring Jayasurya in the lead, this movie, penned by R Ramanand, is a two-part saga, with the first installment slated for a 2024 release. Kathanar is gearing up for a nationwide launch across seven languages, marking a pioneering move in Indian cinema by incorporating cutting-edge virtual production technology- a first for the industry as highlighted by the filmmakers. Additionally, this is Anushka Shetty's first movie in Malayalam Cinema.

After the success of 2018 and Minnal Murali, actor Tovino Thomas will be seen in the movie 'Ajayantea Randaam Moashanam' which is the first pan-India release of the actor. The film is being produced on an enormous budget and chronicles the tale of three eras. It is a 3D Pan-Indian movie that will also be released in 2024 in Kannada, English, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Directed by Jithin Lal, the script for the movie was written by Sujith Nambiar. Actors Tovino Thomas , Krithi Shetty, and Aishwarya Rajesh ,Surabhi Lakshmi, Rohini, Harish Uthaman star in this period-action drama.

L2: Empuraan is being touted as Malayalam film industry's first-ever big-budgeted movie. Lyca Productions will be bankrolling this big-budget project and the film will be released in five languages in 2024. The film is a sequel to Prithviraj and Mohanlal's 'Lucifer'. 'L2E - Empuraan,' directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is written by Murali Gopy. Reports state that the movie is expected to earn more at the box office than 'Lucifer'.
