Transitioning seamlessly into acting, Kamalesh made his film debut in 2019 with Raatchasi, portraying Kathir, a primary school student harboring a crush on his principal, played by Jyothika. His performance was noted for its charm and authenticity.​

In 2020, he appeared in Biskoth, directed by R. Kannan, where he played the younger version of Santhanam\'s character, further showcasing his versatility. ​
