Thachilledatthu Chundan movie is based on boat races (Vallamkali) in Kuttanad. Vikraman Nair (Thilakan) who owns a Chundan Vallam(Kerala snake boat ) named after their house name "Thachiledathu". His grandson KochuKunju (Mamootty).
The movie portrays the rivalry between different people who owns their own Chundan Vallam, and there is a lot of family politics which adds spice to the storyline.
