Mathimaran Story

Mathimaran aka Mathimaaran, a Tamil-language thriller movie written and directed by Mantra Veerapandian, with production led by Lenin Babu. The movie features Venkat Senguttuvan and Ivana in the lead roles, portraying the titular characters, and includes Aradhya and M. S. Bhaskar in supporting roles.

Plot Summary:

The storyline revolves around a man grappling with discrimination due to his physical deformity, delving into the societal challenges he faces. Mathi and Nedumaran are twins, but Nedumaran, being a dwarf, encounters unique struggles. They attend school together, but upon reaching college, they choose separate paths. 

Shockingly, when Mathi elopes with his college professor, his parents commit suicide. Nedumaran, determined to find his sister, travels to Chennai, where he discovers a series of serial killings. 

With the assistance of his friend Prabavathy, Nedumaran decides to unravel the mystery. The perpetrator is revealed to be Anuman, the owner of a sofa company and Mathi's husband. Nedumaran collaborates with the police to apprehend Anuman, leading to his demise in police custody. Nedumaran then discloses the truth about Mathi's husband to her, and the following day, she takes matters into her own hands by poisoning his food. Despite this, the police do not arrest her. 

Returning to their village, Mathi becomes a teacher, and Nedumaran assumes his father's postman job. The movie concludes with a poignant social message—body shaming is a cruel aspect of society, demonstrated by the consistent mockery Nedumaran faced throughout the film for being short.

Release:

The film made its theatrical debut on December 29, 2023, but unfortunately received negative reviews. Mathimaran is now streaming on Prime Video.
