Golmaal 5 Shooting Begins: Meet the OG Cast of Rohit Shetty’s Most Loved Comedy Franchise

Golmaal 5 was officially announced by director Rohit Shetty on March 14, 2026, coinciding with his 52nd birthday, with filming already underway at Film City, Mumbai. The fifth instalment brings back the original gang- Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu, and marks the addition of Akshay Kumar, reportedly as a bald-headed antagonist. Sharman Joshi also returns, and the story is said to revolve around a chaotic treasure hunt, with additional cast members including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyamani, and Triptii Dimri.

Ajay Devgn plays Gopal, also known as “Gopu,” in the popular Golmaal comedy franchise directed by Rohit Shetty. Gopal is the mischievous and hot-headed leader of the group, famous for his sarcasm, quick thinking, and his signature “finger-breaking” move. Despite his tough attitude, he hilariously struggles with a strong fear of ghosts, and his actions often end up creating most of the chaos in the story.

Arshad Warsi plays Madhav Singh Ghai in the popular Golmaal comedy franchise directed by Rohit Shetty. Madhav is a funny and talkative character who often lands in trouble because of Gopal. Although clever, he can sometimes get confused, and his constant arguments and banter with Gopal (Ajay Devgn) create many of the film’s most hilarious moments.

Sharman Joshi plays Laxman in the popular Golmaal comedy franchise directed by Rohit Shetty. Laxman is known for his fast-talking personality and humorous nature. He often gets nervous when situations become complicated or risky. Despite this, he never hesitates to join his friends in their crazy plans. His expressions and comic timing add many funny moments to the story.

Tusshar Kapoor plays Lucky in the Golmaal comedy franchise directed by Rohit Shetty. Lucky is a mute character who communicates through funny sounds, gestures, and expressive reactions. Even without speaking any dialogue, his unique body language and comic timing create some of the most hilarious moments in the film. 

Akshay Kumar has officially joined the cast of Golmaal 5, a development confirmed by director Rohit Shetty and the actor himself on March 14, 2026. In a surprising twist, Akshay will play the film’s main antagonist, marking a major shift from the franchise’s usual characters. In the announcement video, he appeared in a striking bald look as a mysterious “tantrik,” complete with a shaved head and dark sunglasses, hinting at a quirky villain role in the upcoming comedy.

Shreyas Talpade is a key part of the Golmaal film franchise, appearing in several installments as Laxman Prasad Apte. His character is widely known for his stammering habit and strong comic chemistry with the rest of the gang, which adds to many of the franchise’s funniest moments.  

Kunal Kemmu has portrayed the character Laxman (often called “Laxman 2” to distinguish from Shreyas Talpade’s Laxman) in two previous Golmaal films and is set to return for the fifth installment, continuing his comic role within the mischievous gang.
